To continue the pink theme....

I bought this sparkly organza in a sale at Threads of Green and my daughter (3) has been admiring it for weeks. She wanted a ballet skirt like Angelina Ballerina - but really as long as it was pink and shiny she wouldn't mind.
Once I got the Sewing Clothes Kids Love book I decided on the Insa Skirt, but added two more layers of satin and net to give it a lift. I was really pleased with how it turned out - it looks just like candy floss it is so pink and fluffy and sparkly.
I added trim on top of each seam on the overskirt and underskirt - mostly to cover the seams so they can't be seen
My daughter was delighted - she just looked at it , asked where the 'top' was, and then tried it on to show to her Dad and brothers.
Pin It Now!

  1. It is beautiful, you are so talented. My daughter would love that for on the ice lolxx

  2. That's wonderful - pretty and exotic and yet not channeling Barbie.

  3. Wow! I just made 2 insa skirts for my girls...great minds, huh!? Yours is way more complex than the simple versions I made! Great wonder she's delighted!

  4. Sara and Mise, it's great to get comments on this skirt. I never would have regarded myself as girly, so it's developing as my daughter grows - I must be at the pink stage now:)

  5. Millie, we must have been posting at the same time. I actually changed the yoke too - by making it double. I think you're right about shortening it though, and will do that the next time I make it
