A busy week

Busy in my town - floods which destroyed all of what they covered...

Play ground at night:

Town the morning after:

Busy with my baby's birthday:

She wanted a butterfly cake so I obliged. She is such a joy through it all.

When my head is at it's busiest with racing thoughts, judging , criticising, and strong physical reactions which I'm unable to stay with, and feeling though I can't breathe though I am - then I get physically busy.

4 hours, until 1.30 am, baked mini Christmas cakes and buns and 2 types of icing and made all the boxes.........

for the school Bring & Buy.

Counsellor today, which was a great help. Focused on my truth for now - "I don't want to go back to work right now" which brought on the judge in full swing. But stayed with it and the feelings brought up when I was judging myself. And this evening I have some calmness for the first time in a few weeks.

Costume - part 2

I make so little for the boys that when the 9 year old mentioned he would like to dress up as Obi Wan Kenobi from Star Wars I really wanted to make something for him. While browsing through the Oliver+S Flickr pool I got the inspiration from Pigeon-pair who made the Oliver+S pyjamas as a Luke Skywalker costume for her son.

So I sized up the pattern, changed the sleeves and added an Obi belt from Patty Young's Kyoko pattern adding cord instead of ribbon.

He loved it, especially the sleeves and how they hang down. The material was from 2 old shirts and an old pair of trousers that my husband didn't wear, which were ready for recycling.

Nothing but headaches and tension in my face again since Thursday - Counselling day. But the lightness is still there so I have that to hold onto.

Whew! At last a Sewing Post!

It's been a bit introspective around here . . . . . so time for some more sewing pictures.

The dress, baby trousers and hat have been finished and I love the dress. The trousers is unwearable but makes for a good picture, and the hat has been ripped, sewn and cut (see last post) so many times that I don't know what to think of it.

The patterns for the dress and trousers are numbers 15 and 6 respectively from the current Ottobre 3/2009. I will definately make the dress again and have pictures of it in my head in lots of other colours. The polka dot fabric is from Andalucia by Patty Young, bought online from Laine Jane
.

The hat is from a Sewbaby pattern 'The Hat Shoppe'(can't find the correct link) - perhaps my seam allowances are not accurate but I had a lot of difficulty matching the brim and the crown. I had to gather the crown to make it fit. In fairness, the pattern says that it is very sensitive to changes in the seam allowances. I like the look of the hat though, so I probably will try it again. This set is a present for another niece who is just 1 y - I hope she, or rather her mother! likes it.

Visit to the counsellor again yesterday. It always make me feel I can cope again for another while.
