Silk Chiffon Dress - an Update

Well, we had a 'try-on' and I don't need to panic, I think! The bodice part was a little too close fitting, even though the zip was able to tie up.

This is what the front will look like, if you can imagine the bodice and skirt made with the patterned chiffon, and the hem and waistband made with navy satin.

Th pale blue lines are where I need to make alterations.

This is the back - the drawings seem a bit 'wide-angle', but the actual size of the dress is a 12.

Not being an experienced dressmaker, and not having a pattern, I have to put a lot of thought into each step so it is taking me quite a bit of time to sew. The wedding is the 28th of August, and seeing as I've also promised to make a scarf and a bag to match, I had better quicken the thought processes!

After the 'try-on', she told me she thought the dress was gorgeous - really, that's all that matters.

  1. Looks like it's going well. I'm glad your walking is helping, by the way.

  2. Millie, thanks for stopping by :) The dress will look great when it's fnished, but following a pattern would have made sewing much easier for me!
The walking is making a huge difference, especially combined with mindfulness.
